Police pepper-sprayed an 84-year-old Oklahoma woman in her own home, after tasing her son, and it was all caught on video.
Muskogee Police Chief Rex Eskridge released the video in the name of transparency.
“Videos can’t give you the full sense of what happened, but at the same time they do either validate or expose any warts that you might have,” he said.
According to local sources, the police had been chasing the woman’s son, who had run a stop sign, and followed him into the house.
The woman, Geneva Smith, says that after being pepper-sprayed, police dragged her to their police car and brought her to jail, where she was locked in a cell. She began having a panic attack and was brought to a hospital.
She says she plans to take legal action against the department.
