The short answer is no, not quite. But this week’s news that Denver is set to allow businesses like bars, restaurants and yoga studios to apply for permits to create marijuana “consumption areas”—after city residents voted in favor of this move—brings it a step closer.
The excuse could hardly be better to revisit “Weed Snobs,” a 2014 Weedmaps TV skit. In the video, a pair of pretentious gourmets dine together while working their way through a high-end “weed list” and making disparaging remarks about people who drink alcohol: “This just isn’t that type of place.”
The juxtapositions—”I’d like to start off with a blunt of your finest White Widow”—are amusing, and the points made about the absurdity of selectively prohibiting and stigmatizing substances hit home.
